Many people think that a heart attack that occurs can be fatal. Even so, actually when a person has a heart attack, there is still hope for him to be saved.

Cardiologist and Blood Vessel Specialist Dr. med. dr. Denio A. Ridjab, Sp.JP (K) said the worsening of the condition of patients with heart attacks could be avoided with Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention) or Primary Angioplasty.

“It is a medical procedure to restore blood flow to the heart by overcoming blockages or narrowing of the coronary arteries caused by atherosclerosis, namely the buildup of cholesterol deposits (called plaques) in the arteries,” Denio explained some time ago.

Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention is done by stretching the narrowed area of ​​the coronary artery using a balloon attached to a catheter, which is a small, flexible tube, into the body to get to the problematic artery.

A heart attack is a disruption of blood flow in the blood vessels of the heart so that the heart muscle is damaged, or it is also called a myocardial infarction, the main cause of this condition is coronary heart disease.

He explained that the condition of a heart attack is an emergency that requires treatment as soon as possible by the emergency team and heart specialists. Death from a heart attack can occur due to delay in getting medical treatment.

The reason is, if a heart attack is extensive, severe, delayed or not handled properly, the possibility of complications arising from a heart attack will be even more severe, including heart rhythm disturbances or arrhythmias, heart failure, cardiogenic shock, and cardiac arrest which can lead to cardiac arrest. on death.

Based on data from the Indonesian Basic Health Research (Riskesdas) in 2018, the incidence of heart and blood vessel disease is increasing from year to year. At least 15 out of 1000 people or about 2,784,064 people in Indonesia suffer from heart disease, so that coronary heart disease is one of the highest causes of death in Indonesia and currently heart disease is starting to increase experienced at a young age around the age of 30-50 years.

Most heart attacks are identical with symptoms such as chest pain, discomfort such as pressure, burning sensation, pain in the left or center of the chest, then radiating to the back, jaw, and arms, pain that worsens with activity, then other symptoms, such as shortness of breath. shortness of breath, the appearance of cold sweats, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness.

Heart attacks that appear in a person can also be similar to GERD or ulcers. In some people, they don’t even show symptoms but go into cardiac arrest immediately or die suddenly.
